Maureen – Hospital Manager/Technician

Maureen started her career in veterinary medicine in 1991 working in a 24 hour emergency veterinary hospital. While working there, she was trained by veterinary technicians from the University of Pennsylvania School of Veterinary Medicine. Maureen went on to work in the emergency and critical care field for 15 years and then moved into a cardiology specialty practice. She has also worked in day practices with a passion for a “fear free” environment.

Maureen holds several certifications in many aspects of emergency and critical care. She attends several veterinary conferences yearly to stay on top of the most up to date research in animal care. Maureen shares a ranch in Gavilan Hills with her husband of 20 years along with her 5 American Pit Bull Terriers, 2 cats, 3 horses, 2 goats, 3 pigs and a Sulcata tortoise. On her off time, she advocates for the Pit Bull breed and also competes in ranch sorting with her horses.


Monica – Registered Veterinary Technician, RVT

Monica landed in San Diego with her husband in 2012 after driving across the country from Maryland on a whim to explore the west coast. She has always cared for animals in one form or another, but her professional career started with horses. As a rider from an early age, she enjoyed showing hunter/jumper with the occasional cross-country, and since she moving to San Diego has started playing polo.

After passing her veterinary technician state, and national boards in August 2017 Monica is eager to step up her professional career in caring for all animals. She strongly believes in positive reinforcement training, and helping to strengthen the animal-human bond through health and wellness.


Susan Hammond

Client care specialist; Horse advocate; Fashionista; Owned by her gorgeous Springer Spaniel

Susan a native Californian with a career history packed with customer service experience in a wide variety of industries including transportation, electronics and designer women’s clothing. Throughout, she has utilized skills learned while getting a Bachelors degree in Psychology from California State University, Northridge. Client satisfaction and retention is always a main focus for Susan. Client attention has also been an important instrumental in her business building successes.

Coupling business acumen with a love of animals makes being an administrative addition to THE RANCH Concierge Vet Care a perfect fit.

Susan currently lives in Carlsbad with her husband, Ric, and their English Springer Spaniel and therapy dog, Peach. In her spare time, she accompanies Peach to her therapy appointments throughout San Diego County and volunteers at a horse rescue.


Shelee Lyon, RVT

Australian; Experienced Technician Instructor; RVT, Prior CEO of a Farrier school; Owned by Pembroke Corgis

Shelee graduated from Mesa College and became an RVT in 1988. Since then she has worked in everything from small animal to exotics to specialty/emergency to large animal. Before going to work as a Vet. Tech. instructor 7 years ago at Pima, her primary focus has been large animal, and especially equine. She currently works one day a week with a local ambulatory equine vet, and 1-2 days a week at a local small animal practice, as well as being an adjunct instructor at SD Mesa College Animal Health Technology Program. Shelee lives on a ranch in Ramona with her husband of 34 years, and their kids consist of 3 horses, 15 chickens, 3 Corgis and a Chesapeake Bay Retriever. She likes to fish, ride her horse, play with her dogs, travel, and is starting golf lessons. Her husband is a Farrier and they co-owned a horseshoeing school in Ramona for 10 years until closing it in 2014.


Becky Robertson – Executive Manager, RVT

Executive Manager; RVT; Border Collie enthusiast; Fitness guru and future Mensa member

Becky has been surrounded by animals all of her life having grown up on a ranch in Newbury Park, Ca. She obtained her Registered Veterinary Technician license in 1988 and spent 17 years working in small animal hospitals. An opportunity led her to Amgen, a large biotech company, where she helped develop novel cancer therapeutics for 12 years as a Senior Associate Scientist. Her own son’s successful battle with cancer inspired her to take a position at Children’s Hospital Los Angeles conducting clinical trials with pediatric cancer patients. Her focus has always been in health care and in making a difference in both animal and people’s lives. Becky recently moved to San Diego, taking up residence in Carlsbad Village. Her daughter lives in Cardiff and is a successful personal trainer/fitness manager for a major health chain while her son is a mechanical engineering student at UCLA. Becky loves to spend her free time roaming the hills and the beach with her Border Collie Ryder. She also has a cat named Oscar.
